August 13,2013 - The 2012 property tax rates imposed on home owners and businesses and other property owners within the Village of Lisle for municipal, park, fire and library services are significantly higher than the property tax rates imposed by neighboring towns Wheaton, Naperville, Glen Ellyn and Downers Grove for the same services.
A Lisle property owner pays 86% more for these services in property tax than a Naperville property owner on equal-valued property.
A Lisle property owner pays 82% more for these services in property tax than a Downers Grove property owner on equal-valued property.
Questions:
1. Are higher property tax rates to blame for the disproportionately higher decline in home values in Lisle?
2. Do Lisle residents and businesses get more for their money than Naperville, Wheaton, Glen Ellyn and Downers Grove residents?
3. Are higher property tax rates a disincentive for investment by prospective business owners?
